and I wonder who’s to blame for this
The Ati-Atihan Festival is an annual feast held every month of January in honor of the Santo Niño. It is in the town of Kalibo, Aklan, which is 160 kilometers from Iloilo City – which by the way where yours truly reside.
So during the last three days of this week-long celebration, the parades, dancing, and merrymaking should not be missed. Participants paint their faces and bodies in many different ways and wear striking costumes as they dance and parade on the street.
What I really like about this event is that AnYBODY can join during the parade. Heck we even danced w/ them on the street. You can grab anyone who catches your attention and ask them to take a picture with you. You don’t have to worry a thing, people there are so friendly, and everyone is just clearly having a great time.
Ati-Athihan is indeed one of the greatest, most colorful and fun festivals here in the Philippines.
I really had a terrific time. It’s my first time to attend the said event…and definitely won’t be the last. See you there next year!
